phone vibrates as Sean Don cooks eggs eggs

as reply to All His

Sean Don was smiling as he made his eggs this morning. The sun came in brightly and he was thinking of how free he felt. He couldn't say he was necessarily happy. He would instead describe his mood as light and free. That's how he felt.

The only thing he could attribute to this new lightness was the absence of his roommate. Jack had fled out of nowhere with no warning. At first it was disturbing and he felt lonely. Especially the first weekend. But after that it became okay. And then finally it became better. He liked all the extra space to himself. The ability to just do whatever he wanted when he wanted, not having to worry about whether Jack would be coming back. He never had to worry about having to strike a conversation and saying hellos. He would go the whole day without saying a word in his own apartment.

When he'd be out at the cafes and in classes then he would be social. The words would flow out from him. It'd be exciting to finally speak. Then he'd go back home and feel free in the quiet again. He could live like this. If only it wasn't so expensive to live alone.

that morning he was looking forward to eating the eggs with hot sauce and some cheese. The phone vibrated ontop of the counter as the eggs were coming to. He didn't check right away. Instead gave the
eggs
his attention. But he had a bad feeling about that text.
