Unfit for purpose

When our old electric kettle broke, my wife thought it would be good to replace it with a stovetop kettle, making way for some more space on the kitchen bench. I thought that sounded logical and said: "sure, no worries."

We have a gas stovetop, so there is plenty of instant energy there, ready to heat the water, I thought. What I hadn't anticipated is the time it takes for a stovetop kettle to boil the water. With an electric kettle, you can fill it three-quarters full, and it will boil by the time you prepare your cup and get the milk out of the fridge.

It takes forever to boil with a stovetop kettle, so I find myself having to walk away and wait for it to whistle. The other thing I dislike about this particular kettle is that the handle gets too hot to touch, and I find myself struggling to pour the boiling water into the cup without spilling it.

The stovetop kettle appears unfit for purpose, and I don't quite know why my wife wants to persist with it. Once the kitchen renovations are complete, I am off to the Good Guys appliance store to buy a new electric kettle.
Do you drink obscene amounts of tea? If so I love using an electric thermos.

You can define what temperature to set the water to and it will keep it there.

It could go well with my Billi Alpine sparkling & chilled water tap I just had installed.

If you do get it let me know how the family likes it. My parents gifted it to me and my girlfriend for Christmas few year ago and it's our favorite gift of all time. Because we drink tons of tea and also different kinds of it that need different temperatures
