Winter

I moved from Arizona to Michigan in 2020.  One of the big differences is the weather and overall climate.

In Michigan we have 4 seasons. In Arizona, I heard someone say there are 2 seasons, hot and hotter. I'll take those 2 seasons over the 4 seasons in Michigan. In Arizona the weather is consistent and the sun is always shining.  Everything grows in the sun. Everything dies without it.

In the Michigan winter I feel  less healthy and energetic and much more lethargic.  At the beginning of the winter I had the best intentions of working out consistently, staying in good running shape and doing my best to feel good.  By the end of the winter, it's kicked my butt.  I've gained weight, I'm not sleeping as well, and my wife told me I'm starting to snore. I don't know what that means, but I don't want to be a snorer.

I'm ready for the spring and summer, I'm ready for the sun.  The funny thing about the spring in Michigan is it can be 70 degrees one day and 35 the next.  It's like Mother Nature is just teasing us.

Hopefully, spring will be here soon. Until then, I'm going to do my best to break out of hibernation so I'm ready when it finally arrives.
Get ready. Here comes Steve. I feel for you in a hard winter. I'm quite the wimp when it comes to cold weather. Don't beat yourself up. Just realize that's part of a cycle, a season, and it creates an opportunity to discover what's inside — as you did here.

good point. The seasons do resemble seasons in life as a cycle. Sometimes summer (good times), sometimes winter (hard times), but after a hard winter the warmth in the spring is much more appreciated.

I'm glad you had a momentary reprieve in AZ. I say leave winters to Wim!

I also enjoy the cyclical nature. I just can't imagine myself appreciating a season unless it has a contrast. Like I couldn't appreciate the white gentle snowfall of winter without the endless nights of summer. Also the changing of birds orchestra is something I appreciate.
