We have a signed contract

We were a little too eager in late March to be celebrating the sale of our investment property in Far North Queensland (
Licking our wounds Yours Truly
). A buyer made an offer to buy, but it fell through when the buyer couldn't get the finance they needed from the bank.

So it was back to the market, and early last week, we got another offer to buy. The good thing about this offer is that it was higher than the previous offer. This time we curbed our enthusiasm and waited for a signed contract to arrive.

This was our best chance to sell with people wanting to move to the regional areas after COVID-19. Irrespective of the better offer, we will still make a significant loss on this investment. It was doubtful that we would have seen the market rise enough to think twice about selling.

It will be nice to put this investment behind us. When we decided to buy in Far North Queensland, we thought it would be an ideal investment. If only we had invested in suburban Melbourne, we would have been much better off.

I will be glad when the settlement is complete, and we can pay out the outstanding mortgage and move on.
