I am a bit of a sucker for a YouTube video, spending my waking hours watching music videos, news or short clips about tech. It is the ideal video channel for the viewer with a short attention span. I guess that's me.
After watching a lot of YouTube videos, I can quickly get tired of the ads. And even though you can skip many ads after five seconds, it still is a pain to be flicking off the ad with each video you watch.
I have finally taken the plunge to go with the premium offering. With the one-month free trial of YouTube Premium, I get no ads, background play, and I can download videos to watch offline, all for $19.99 per month (Australian dollars). My early impression is that it is a much better experience.
It feels a little strange, paying a premium to watch video content that can be watched for free. Generally, I would pay for content to watch, not to eliminate the ads. However, I am not sure if I will see enough value in committing my twenty bucks every month?
If I decide to stick with YouTube Premium, I think one of the other streaming services may have to go.
