The Bend

I have been fortunate to drive on many great race tracks close to home. The Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, Sandown International Raceway, and Winton Raceway are just some of the regular tracks where I have pushed my car to the limits.

Competing in the Zoom Zoom Championship means I will be on track at least once a month. In addition to the Championship, I travel with other club members to interstate tracks for interstate club challenges or team events. So there is no shortage of tracks and events for the motorsport enthusiast.

In 2018, the club did a two-day event in Tasmania, where we had a track day at the Baskerville Raceway near Hobart, and then a second day at Symmons Plains in Northern Tasmania. Over the years, we have also had several interstate challenges with the Zoom Zoom club of New South  Wales at Wakefield Park Raceway or Eastern Creek Raceway in Sydney. So I have had the opportunity to drive on eleven different race tracks in Australia.

I never get sick of driving my car on the track, and I get excited when I have an opportunity to drive a new track. The Bend Motorsport Park is a 7.7 kilometre motor racing circuit at Tailem Bend, one hundred kilometres southeast of Adelaide in South Australia. It is one circuit I am yet to drive on, and so along with some other club members, I have booked a day to drive on the track in early December.

The great thing about driving on a new track for the first time is that you always come home with a personal best lap time. It should be fun.
