With our recent social isolation, I have been encouraged to rummage through the cupboards to find some of the families popular board games.
Monopoly has always been one of my favourite games, but none of my family wants to play it. They think I am too greedy and buy everything up before anyone else has had a chance to buy their first property. I am not sure they entirely understand the concept of the game, as they want everyone to get an equal share of the properties and that no one person should dominate. I guess they have a bit of learning about capitalism.
Pictionary, on the other hand, is a game the whole family enjoys. Asking people to draw with their non-dominant hand adds a little interest. However, even with our dominant hand, none of us can draw to save ourselves, but we have a lot of fun trying - a good family favourite.
If you are planning to play Trivial Pursuit, make sure you have a region-specific version. For some reason, we have a British version, and many of the questions leave everyone with blank faces, unable to be answered. As a result, we have had to add a new rule to allow players to swap their question cards if they think it will be too hard to answer.
It has been a lot of family fun.
