You forgot my coffee

I felt empathy for the waitress when she apologised for forgetting the drink I ordered. Unfortunately, by the time I reminded her of my order, it was too late, and I had already finished my meal. She said they were a little busy and appreciated our patience in waiting during the lunch service. However, my empathy soon turned to disappointment when I ordered a coffee with dessert, and again she promptly forgot my order.

We have all experienced wait staff who try to impress us by remembering the order without writing it down, only to find that they have forgotten something because they didn't write it down. Forgetting one drink might seem a minor matter, but the goodwill is quickly eroded when forgetting the drink orders becomes repetitive. It diminishes the dining experience.

A fundamental of waiting on tables at a restaurant is to make sure you capture the order correctly. It should always be written down. A good meal can be ruined if the service is not up to scratch. I mentioned my disappointment to the manager on the way out, but the further apology was too little, too late.

My review was great food, let down by poor service.
