Game of Thrones was a most spectacular success.
Since then, Movie Studios have been scouring the earth for Epic Fantasy stories. Netflix replied with "The Witcher". The Witcher, at the time, had the biggest opening of any show on Netflix.
Amazon has joined the game. Wheel of Time is currently available on Amazon Prime. They also have a deal for a prequel to Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien to be released at some time in the future. I just completed the first episode of Wheel of Time, and I can guarantee you, it's gonna be big.
The movie studios discovered viewers wanted Epic Fantasy shows and they are spending big on it. HBO has validated the idea with Game of Thrones, other studios are simply mimicking its success. Even HBO has another Epic Fantasy lined up for 2022.
My point is, the big boys who have all the money in the world for R&D don't always do new things. They simply copy. They mimic what works. They find a great surf and join in.
If your excuse for not starting a business, writing a book or starting a podcast is because a similar idea exists, perish that thought and go get started.
