Ok Google

I have gone a little crazy in recent months on voice command devices in the home. Light bulbs, locks and lamps can all be controlled with my voice. "OK Google", turn on the lights, "Hey Siri", lock the front door, all from a voice command.

The three best-known voice assistants are Google Assistant, Siri and Alexa. I have resisted using Alexa but have a mix of Siri on my iPhone and Apple Watch and Google Assistant with my home devices.

Siri has become a great companion when I am out and about, particularly if I am exercising and only taking my Apple Watch with me. For example, I can use voice commands to lock and unlock the front door quickly.
Integrated with CarPlay in my vehicle, voice commands through Siri have become my preferred method of interacting with my phone while driving.

As good as Siri is, it is limited to Apple devices only, so it is not quite working for me when it comes to many home-based devices. Setting up a Sonos speaker enabled with Google Assistant is smooth and well-integrated. By extending this to my home automation devices and music, Google Assistant has become my preferred voice assistant around the home. OK, Google, turn off the lights.
