Two COVID tests in two days, the price I have to pay to travel interstate to South Australia. The South Australian government has required that all interstate travelers get tested within 72 hours of arriving and then test on arrival and isolate until the test is negative. The first test came back within 24 hours as negative, and I am now sitting in my hotel room awaiting my second test result. I am confident it will be negative, and I can enjoy my trip.
I have been fortunate not to have many COVID tests in the past two years. My first test was only last month when my wife insisted I get a test because I had a sniffle. Now that the borders are opening up and we can travel more, testing because of travel is likely to become the dominant reason why people are getting tests. Except for international travel, COVID tests are still free, so I am fine about sitting in queues to get one, especially if it allows me to travel.
COVID testing is now part of the new COVID normal, so I am okay about sitting in a queue to get one, as long as they don’t start charging for them.
