The long weekend

As I reviewed my monthly schedule, I noticed that April would be the month of the short work week. Therefore, except for the first weekend in April, every other weekend in April will be a long weekend for me.

Australians get an annual leave entitlement of four weeks per year. Add the thirteen public holidays, then there are plenty of opportunities for a weekend getaway. In the past two years of lockdown, short trips away have been hard to come by. This year it is time to make up for the holidays missed in 2020 and 2021. Having been away at the lovely country town of Bright in January, it is quite an indulgence to have another trip away by the end of February. And it won't end there.

There is an official long weekend for the Labour Day holiday this weekend, and by taking the preceding Friday as annual leave, I will enjoy another four-day long weekend. Four weeks later, it will be Easter, and we will be away again. Many families enjoy pitching their tent at their favourite campsite for four weeks over the summer. However, my family prefers to have these short holidays, generally no more than one week at a time. With the summer now trailing out to Autumn, it is the perfect time of year to getaway. Time to lay back and relax.
