Face mask procrastination

Now that we are no longer required to wear a mask in most retail and hospitality settings, I am still procrastinating about whether to wear a face mask. I am not sure why this is, given that our health experts say that if you are in a public space and can't social distance, a face mask is an excellent idea to prevent you from spreading COVID-19.

There are many conflicting opinions on the benefits of wearing a face mask, and it is unlikely that face masks on their own will stop the spread of coronavirus. Therefore, it is recommended that you still need to maintain your hand sanitising practices and social distancing, whether you wear a face mask or not.

When the key recommendation from our Chief Health Officer is to wear a face mask in public, when social distancing cannot be maintained, then my reluctance to wear one is just illogical. Many people are wearing face masks not just for their safety but also for protecting others. It is about time I got over my reluctance and wear a mask.
