In what Coach Mayhew had feared, it appears that Johnny Timberland has suffered a season ending injury at the ending of last nights dramatic victory over the Hornets. Timberland did happen to make the game winning shot as time expired. A shot that sent the Celtics to first place in the East. Yet this was an unfortunate turn for the young player who had only rejoined the team a couple games prior following a lengthy suspension. As he came down from the game winning shot, Timberland awkwardly landed on Miles Bridges foot. As his teammates surrounded him and began jumping on his back it became apparent something was terribly wrong. Shortly after being filled with thunderous cheers the crowd had silenced as they stared intently as Timberland hobbled over to the tunnel with the support of the team captains. Right before entering the tunnel and in obvious pain, Timberland tore off his jersey and launched it into the crowd as the Johnny Rocket chant filled the arena. Before the injury timberland was having his best season as a role player for this strong Celtics team, but numerous fights and suspensions had raised questions from within the front office. With 3 months left in the season, Timberland was hoping to show the team enough to secure a new deal before becoming a restricted free agent this off season. Unfortunately, the tape from his injury shortened season in addition to how effectively he returns from his injury will decide his future with the team.
