Rings of Power vs House of the Dragon

Since I watched the first episode of HBO's House of the Dragon I knew it would be a bad idea for any streaming service to release a major show during this period. House of the Dragon is that good.

Prime Video released a Lord of the Rings show called Rings of Power, but the reviews haven't been great. Seems like only the hardcore book readers love it.

I haven't seen any episode of the Rings of Power, but why do I feel it could have saved itself from the House of the Dragon comparison?
