Decades later Howard would wonder how he had been crushed so much on Ashleigh.
Now that she was an old woman with a potbelly. Not that he was much of a catch now. But at least he had not been a catch ever to begin with.
Back in college though 99% of college boys would've wanted to sleep with her. He couldn't say the same about 99% of college girls about him. In fact if he were being accurate he would say that maybe 30% of college girls would've not considered ruling him out. Would've given him a chance. But Ashleigh... probably 99% of guys would've opted into sleeping with her with no ruling out process.
That's what differentiated girls from boys back in college. For one side it was about not ruling theo ther party out. And the other side it was more about whether they had a shot or not.
Now that Howard was an old fart all this seemed silly. And now that Mike and Spencer were no longer alive, it seemed silly to think about how all those decades back, he had been self conscious about what Frat Star Mike had thought of him... or what Slick Spencer thought of him.
That life felt so far away now.
