He was boarding a train, well about to. There was twenty minutes so he wasn’t in a rush. He walked across this platform that led down on some stairs to a big open door. The sign said open. So he went down and opened it, and there was a bakery where everyone had a job. There was a guy holding logs to start the fire. And a few people rolling dough out and shaping it. It smelled like croissants and choclate and yeast. The man at the counter said welcome please come in have anything you want. The man said he had a train soon so he couldn’t stay long, but it smells so amazing. Could I just have a loaf of white bread, sourdough. The man with the bread was covered in flour and he said for sure, but don’t worry you’ll make the train you need. Could you just help us with something. The man glanced at his watch then back at him and said sure. Okay, we need you just take all these dirty baskets to the back room and bring up clean ones. Then you can be on your way. It the took the man one trip. When he got back his bread wasn’t baked, and he had 5 minutes before the train which was enough time but he really needed to be going. He then saw more dirty baskets twice as much as before. The other man and the workers said thank you so much you are such a help, could you just take those down as well. So the man did because he had to be polite, he said he would. When he returned more baskets were piled hire and he knew what he had to do. He took those down too. Then when he came up people were happy and he was given bread but then more baskets. This happened a thousand times maybe more. He didn’t even noticed he missed the train. He found a place in the world and had everything he needed as long as he just kept moving the baskets.
He realise though soon, the people around him changed. Maybe a new person would show up. But he didn’t understand from where. Until one day he was told to go to the counter and if anyone asks for bread he has to ask if they can help. If they say yes, he is free. If not he could stay.
