I started reading a new book yesterday. Title - Who not How.
I don't remember but it looks like I had started the book already. The main thesis of the book is that you can go further with people than on your own. The book starts with an example of how Michael Jordan went as far as he could before someone made a strategic decision to add Pipen to the Bulls. That change elevated their game and the championship trophies.
There is no doubt that Jordan has a superhuman talent. But if someone like him could benefit exponentially from having help, why do so many of us insist on doing things ourselves?
I am a big fan of outsourcing. For giving myself time and for getting things done that I don't have the skills for. Due to limited funds at this time, I can't outsource as much as I would like. But the book has reinforced the concept that reaching out for help is a good way to go beyond the average.
