Demand

Many years ago, one of the products I was selling had an upsell item. It was a physical calendar with a nice design and quote on it. It wasn't the main product but it complemented the product well.

I remember telling a close friend about the product. She asked me what the calendar does. She assumed that it was an app of some sort that I was selling. The price was $15 so she was curious what I was providing. When I told her that it was just a calendar, she still seemed puzzled. What does it do she asked.

I had to explain that it was a fancy wall calendar. That was it. She was amazed that people were paying $15 for it. I actually sold a lot of that calendar so I told her that there was demand. She was very puzzled.

Now that I got through ETSY and find equally puzzling products, I am beginning to understand that for people that are not tech savvy, a lot of these digital products seem like magic. There are a whole lot of customizable products on ETSY that can be done by a tool in no time. And people are willing to pay big bucks for those sort of customized experience. It is just about finding the demand and fulfilling it.
