as reply to bus passes are no longer free

Jack had a strange feeling on that bus. It was like he had woken up or just briefly he was completely present. The bus seemed brighter or something all the blues were bluer and the oranges orange. People all around him seemed alive, there was a couple listening to music next to him, using the same headphones. There was an older guy doing puzzles, and woman reading a magazine.  Everyone greeted the driver when they got on. And he replied with a big laugh welcome aboard, like he was some kind of captain of their lives. And there he was in the middle of all of this just watching.

Even sorority girls behind him seemed to be into something bigger or tapped in to something Devine.

“Abbot place.”

His stop called but at first he didn’t get up. Normally he’d stand and wait by the door. He was red to stay on the bus, he felt like he could just hit it on the next time around he thought. He just wanted to stay there.

But something else pulled him forward out into the night, there the air was cooler and the sun was setting and his phone was at 2%.
