I came to know this interesting group of artists when I was working on COVID project for Ethiopia. They created a great image of healthcare workers as heroes when there happen to be some discrimination going on against them.
Now they have created a Kickstarter campaign based on the true story of the Ethiopian war against the Italians in the famous Battle of Adwa.
The idea of creating a comic that children like my niece and nephew can relate to is priceless. There is very few African or Ethiopian comics for young people to find themselves in. My niece is already excited and wants to know the delivery date.
The main character is a female and if you look closely, she had a face tattoo similar to the traditional tattoo in Ethiopia. She is also wearing something similar to our traditional cloth. In addition to addressing identity and gender, the comic also covers historically significant stories that are being told in a way that the children today can relate to.
The campaign is already a Kickstarter selected "project we love" campaign.
I have already pledged and want to help spread their work worldwide.
