Dental health

I was back to the dentist today for my six-monthly dental check-up and clean. In my younger days, I took very little interest in looking after my teeth, and as a result, I had expensive root canals and crown treatments on a number of my teeth.

My father kept all of his teeth until he passed away at the age of ninety-three. This was uncommon for people of his age, as the depression generation had poor dental health, and many had all their teeth removed and replaced with false teeth at a young age. A case in point was my mother, who received false teeth well before I was born.

After I had a tooth extracted, I thought it might be time to take better care of my teeth. I decided that a regular check-up and clean was necessary to retain what teeth I had left. My wife thinks I only get a routine check-up for my teeth because my dentist is blonde, and her name is Heidi. I assure her that this is not the case and that she is an excellent dentist.

Anyway, the good news is that I have arrested the further decline in my dental health and I look set to keeping my teeth for many more years to come.
Glad to hear you are keeping up on your dental hygiene. I am overdue for my check-up, and I'll be visiting a new dentist tomorrow. I can only hope for a blonde Australian named Heidi.
