Family Business

I sell rugs. Rugs and specialized carpets.

Family business, you see. Funny, all that talk people spout about keeping a roof over their heads. Well sure, once that's covered, I don't want mine padding about on splinters all day, do I? I build my house from the ground up, same as my father did, and his mother did. Granddad was a drunk, you see.

Business is alright. We get new shipments in from our distributor twice a week, twice a month for the big corporate gigs. Can't say I perk up at the sight of a new office construct, but let's just say that I get about as imaginative on those quote sheets as Dr. Seuss. Haven't been turned away yet.

Rugs never go out of style, we've found. If it's that style or this thread, it's easier to swap to different suppliers than try to convince your current guy that the future's in another direction. Those lot get snared in their ways like yarn through a hedge.

Some bloke once said that the best investment there could be is real estate; they're not making any more of it. Well, true enough and who's to say - but no matter how we come by the land, all's I see is a new frontier to map.
