Power outage

A huge wind has just swept through our suburb, and the first thought that went through my head is that I hope that tree leaning toward my house doesn't fall. Fortunate for me, the extreme wind was brief, and the tree didn't fall. But, unfortunately for me, the wind was strong enough to cause disruption my electricity.

Within five minutes of the power disruption, I got a text message from the electricity provider to say there was a power disruption in my area. It's great that they are onto the problem quickly, but they did indicate that the power wouldn't be restored for another eight hours. I think the eight hours to restoration is their default position, so I hope they can fix the electricity a lot sooner than that.

Having powerlines hanging off power poles is always an issue when a tree falls on them. The power in our street is underground, but the problem must be in another street where the power lines are overhead. Maybe the electricity company need to put all the power underground.

Nevertheless, it's a good thing we have daylight saving, so we won't be pitched into too much darkness if I have to wait until midnight for the electricity to be restored.
Had some power issues here in the
American Midwest
last week as well.

My parents are now having to cut down two trees because the strong winds proved how precarious they are.

Interesting how often your weather is similar to ours. This isn't the first time you've written about severe weather just around the same time we had the same over here.
