I am knee deep in our of my courses that is about video presence.
Assignment 1 was to create a 30 second video introducing ourselves and why we are taking this course. No edits, music or special effects allowed. Just a raw footage of us speaking to the camera.
It took me 6 retakes before I felt ok to submit my recording.
What I was looking for was:
1) I am not mumbling.
2) What I say is honest and interesting.
3) I actually answer the question I was asked to speak about.
4) I don't look away from the camera....especially when I am trying to remember what to say.
5) I stick to the time limit of 30 seconds.... which is much shorter than I expected.
The end result was a very stiff me talking and looking so uncomfortable - it is funny to watch. Though I managed to do all 5, I looked like a robot.
I got feedback from the instructor telling me that I had improved from the very first intro video I had made for the course but I still had ways to go. The main thing he told me to change was the angle of the camera. Told me the camera should be at eye level. Who knew? I don't have any equipment to place my phone anywhere unless I have someone else record me.
I am going to have to create a mini studio to be taken seriously as a content creator.
This influencer life style is expensive.
