Deep Work deep work Adagia the shallows

deep work
, I just started and already very interested. I had read a different book back in (jeez the first year of college) 2012 or so called
the shallows
. Its about how all the technology that humans use, be it the wristwatch or even the typewriter, influences how we think. And unfortunately for us in the age of google twitter and the like its making us more shallow thinkers. Or less focused thinkers.  Which some people say it shouldn't be bad, why need an extensive memory if you can just google it. Others though are not as enthusiastic, either way you feel, the author of deep think says its profitable for you to behave different than other people. And to learn skills that will set you apart, and skills that can't be quikckly learned. While some people in companies will be experts at multi-tasking and replying quickly to multiple emails, one who is focused on Deep work, might create a code that efficiently finishes tasks or creates a new product that the company to use, or even create another company. For some reason this book seems obvious, in that of course it takes a lot of dedicated time to create something, it also has shown me that society and life and work all have so many distractions, that seem important and urgent, but just aren't. I am really excited to read more, but it also makes me think that
Adagia
is really important. As its not just for shallow thinking but gives us a space to practice deep work. Or train to do so. So happy writing!
