Woof

I had never been a big dog lover for most of my life, but my girls had constantly pestered my wife and me to get a dog. I was a little lukewarm, everybody commits to looking after it, but I usually get left to clean up the mess. Eventually, I gave in, and we got a Cavoodle, a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle.

The girls called him Elmo, a name that aptly suited his gentle and loving nature. He was clever and loved the company of humans. He would happily curl up at the end of any bed and sleep all day and night. If he got the opportunity to run at the park or beach, he would always run like someone had left the gate open.

Elmo suffered from a heart murmur due to poor breeding. Though it didn't impact them too much in his younger days, it certainly slowed him down in his later years. Despite all this, he lived to a good age of 14 years. We were heartbroken and still miss him a lot.

We now have Louie the Groodle, a cross between a Poodle and a Golden Retriever, who is just as gorgeous as Elmo was. Next week, we get to collect Otis, our new mini Grroodle pup. Who says I don't like dogs.
