Someone told me today that Amazon has doubled their base pay and reduced their requirements for IT developer. An entry level person could get $350k to start.
I am not sure how much truth there is to that information but the message is that companies are getting desperate. A lot of people are more open to explore other things in life than a 9-5. People are actively trying alternate sources of making money and living better. Particularly since COVID. A friend of my brother works exclusively from Columbia in South America. His cost of living is nothing compared to what he had to pay living in DC. If he doesn't like anything about his job, he can quit any time.
I think this is a great time for entry level folks to make good money and get experience. I am still not looking to go back to work soon but it is interesting to hear all these changes in the workplace.
