Everyone is in a perpetual process of figuring their life out.
Even the most seemingly well-put-together (whatever that means) individuals remain in a mode figuring life out — ever curious, and ever in search of challenge and meaning.
This is important background because so many social circles and institutions will purport to know what the “right” way is. Some even have the audacity to declare a specific path or set of paths as the only way, suggesting (falsely) that there’s no alternative.
You don’t need to do anything differently but it is good to occasionally remind yourself that you can invent and reinvent.
As Steve Jobs famously said in an interview with the Santa Clara Valley Historical Association, “…everything around you that you can call ‘life’ was made up by people who were no smarter than you. And you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things…”
Take that to heart.
This world, this experience called ‘life,’ is just as much your experiment and playground as it is anyone else’s.
