I have been thinking about my gut these past few days.
I saw an interview where the doctor stressed that artificial sugars affect the gut. And science is now catching up to the fact that the gut is also responsible for the immune system.
As someone who has auto immune issues, I have been trying to improve my diet and remove any triggers that can cause a flare up of my immune system.
The first and most important thing I removed was gluten. The I did dairy, artificial sugars and even eggs for some time.
After doing that for a few months, I slowly put back diary and eggs. I didn't feel like anything got worse. Slowly, I added the sweeteners as well since I really like my tea sweet.
Now I feel the need to take care of my gut and I don't think it is practical for me to just eliminate sweeteners completely. I can't do sugar so that would mean no hot drinks and no desserts.
I am going to read some more about this and maybe get my gut checked for any imbalance as well. This should be interesting.
