Dubai Journey - The flight

I consulted a few people to decide which flight to take to Dubai. Emirates was hands down the recommended airlines.

I picked it for an additional reason. They had zero cancelation fees at the time I booked the flight. Since I wasn't certain that I could renew my passport on time, that option was necessary. I don't know if Emirates still offers that anymore but it helped me when I had to cancel and then rebook my flight.

I had a few hours to pack, get tested for COVID and book a hotel when I got my new passport. I was still numb from the turn of events so I did everything quickly.

When I got to the airport, the lady didn't even care about the $250 COVID test I paid for the day before. Just the vaccination card was enough. I got me a window seat with no other passengers next to me.

Once I boarded, I got comfortable and pulled out my kindle to listen to a book I had downloaded. Then we were served lunch. I chose the vegetarian option. I find that meat tastes weird in planes. Like they have been packaged for years. The paneer with rice tasted delicious. But everything else that was provided was either too much carb or had gluten. So I didn't eat much.

In a few hours, pizza was served. When I asked if they had a gluten free version, I was told that I had to request that before the flight. So I quickly got very hungry and asked the hostess to give me something to eat. The little vegetarian rice wasn't going to do it for 12 hour flight. Unfortunately, all they had was fruits and cheese. I accepted the cheese and wolfed it down.

I made a metal note to request a low carb, gluten free meal on my return flight.

The flight was uneventful and smooth otherwise. Towards the end, I discovered MindValley courses and started to watch Lisa Nichols communication course. I loved it.

Once we landed in Dubai, I felt like I entered the future. It was so modern, clean and exciting. I knew I was going to like my vacation.
Wow - interesting article. I never knew.
