Supply Chain

I have ownership of my car again.
It took 7 days to get my car back from the Toyota dealership.

I had an issue with my car not starting a few times. I was able to get a jump start and got it to work but I decided to see what the dealership would say.

It was just a battery issue and was not supposed to take more than an hour to change in the car. But it turns out the kind that my car needs is not common so I was told I would get it next day. That turned to the next day because of an issue with shipping.

Then I got one excuse or the other for another 2 days. At some point, I asked to speak to a manager since I felt like I wasn't hearing the full story. At that point, I was told that due to COVID, there is a big shortage of supplies. They predict that I may be able to get my car after 7 additional days. I was very surprised but fortunately I didn't have any place to go so I didn't mind.

I did a search online and confirmed that the supply is low.

Fortunately, I got a call this morning. The shipment arrived and I was able to pick up my car earlier than anticipated.

Interesting times when the impact of COVID is still there on supply chain.
I think the impact on the whole supply chain and “we don’t store stuff, but build directly from the trucks” that was and is fully affected by COVID won’t go back to normal for at least another two or three years.

I even heard some coworkers that need to stop building their house because there aren’t enough bricks available.

Wow... now that is intense. No wonder everything is getting expensive.
