Volcano

Today I hiked a volcano. Which is like a mountain that can change under your feet. But it doesn’t usually. I get why people way back would think there are dragons at the top. All the smoke. The strange smells earthquakes. No earthquakes when we were there, but it’s activity increased lately so it’s a higher chance lately.

Another crazy thing was under some rocks there was just steam coming out. From lava formed in like 2016. It was almost like a rice cooker. But on the side of the mountain and stained with sulphur.

Many of the people we met were scientists. All different kinds but it was a funny group. One guy even corrected the tour guide on the dates.

I think the craziest part was just how big it was some parts felt like another planet. Rocks you’ve never seen. Areas where everything was red iron like every where, then another area where everything is yellow from the sulphur or something. One of the guides said we like to think of the volcano as just the smoking top, but really it extends for miles all around. Creating and changing the landscape. This reminds me of an iceberg but more of dynamic one.

After the hike I ate chips and had a coke. These things taste 10x better after a long day.
