, maybe known better as the Pina Colada song, always boosts my mood. I mean for starters the whole song's premise is funny. Guy unknowingly responds to personal ad of his wife and rekindles romance. But music wise also its a silly song, but it always makes my head bob like a metronome. But beside this sillyness I think there is also some truth to it. Long term relationships get boring, but they also get boring because you forget things about your partner, and this might just be from spending so much time with a person. I think this happens with any thing, too much living in one area, and I feel like you stop exploring, maybe you think you know everything.
I think this song also does a thing others don't in that its happy. Happyness is so hard to make without sounding a bit silly. So I guess they embraced it with this song and got away with it. I mean pina coladas, making love at midnight, sounds great.
This song also reminds me of functional fixedness, which is what happens when we have fixed ideas of an object's use. Like a chair you can only sit in, but in reality you can do what ever you want with it, you can also make a table, or a lion defense device.
This also happens with people and relationships, and Escape always reminds me of this.
