Focus on other people

“By simply shifting my focus to another person, which is what compassion does, my own pain was much less intense. This is how compassion works even at the physical level.” — The 14th Dalai Lama, The Book of Joy
Caring for others — being compassionate — is one of the most valuable things you can do because the benefits flow both ways:

By playing a role in improving someone else’s well being, you end up feeling better as well both mentally and physically.

If there’s one principal worth diligently following at home, in your community, and in the work place, let it be to simply focus on caring for the people around you.

In doing so, you play a direct role in fostering a kind of well being for you and those around you that makes life, work, and everything just that much more joyful and meaningful.
