What do you want?

Whether it’s about your career, a connection, or your life in the grand scheme, it is imperative to routinely ask yourself in as point-blank a manner possible what the goal is.

What do you want?

If you know what you want, then the question helps reaffirm and further imbue your goals into your future effort. If you don’t know what you want, then the question gives you the opportunity to finally figure it out.

Either way, establishing a clear idea of what you want puts you in the best position possible to assess whether or not it is time to steer your journey into a different direction, and to communicate your evolving goals to others.

And when others clearly understand what you are looking for, they in turn are put in the best position possible to understand where their goals may over lap with yours and what a prudent next step may be for a specific project or partnership that leads to mutual flourishing.

Knowing what you want enables you to become the best possible ambassador for your life, and to connect with your community in way that is honest, productive, and meaningful.

In an act of compassion, you might also choose to ask the same question of the people you care about too.

I'm beginning to see a pattern of desire in me as a reader. When you write these axioms I'm always in want of where they're coming from in terms of Will the person.

I think this type of writing works best when the person is someone people attach a lot of authority to. Like people like Seth Godin or Marcus Aurelius. But when it's a more normal person (not a super influencer or emperor philosopher) I think there needs to be more of a personal touch to it. Otherwise it gets closer and closer to fortune cookie notes --> wise and true statements, but not accessible to readers.

- interesting perspective, I appreciate this! When you say personal touch; can you elaborate?

Playing with audio as a medium right now as I think messages come across in a very distinct manner when verbalized vs. written.

Here's the second piece of audio content I've made: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dlHy3HMFWM

What are your thoughts?

I listened to the Daily Spark! So it's daily? does that mean there's more? I couldn't find a listing of them on your account so assume they are private.

I really like that you put so much time into this. I can tell not just because of the little sound-cue effects but also how smoothly your narration comes out. I made some audio content like two or so years ago and it was pretty horrible. it didn't sound like me or anything anyone would listen to online.

Your thing actually sounds like something I would expect to hear if someone were to share an online thing. Like I wouldn't think you are just an amateur doing it.

For the personal touch comment I believe that people aren't known for just themselves or just their content but the intersection between the two.

So Seth Godin isn't just known for being Seth Godin. I mean you could argue that now he is, but that was not his path. The path was his unique approach about relentlessly talking about a certain topic.

I feel like you are very far ahead because you've found that topic/domain, and the next step is to make it so that it matters that it comes from this person Will. Right now I feel like it's still topic focused as in the content could've come from anyone.

Does that make sense? Lol writing this out makes this feel a bit harsh so I just wanted to let you know that I totally understand if I'm just rushing you along a set of rails that might take longer and you're willing to patience it out. Let me know what you think, I'd love to learn. :)

it's daily! You can find them here: https://anchor.fm/william-liao. I appreciate your feedback, it means a lot and is very helpful!

Your points on personal touch make sense - not harsh at all! Making the writing sound more like it's coming from me doesn't come intuitively, but it's something that I am open to intentionally working on. I'll do some more thinking and figure out how I might integrate in posts over the next few weeks and see what you think when we chat next thurs.
