Day 7 of 7

Of my 1 week experiment to wake up early.

It was a goal of mine to dedicate October to fixing my sleeping routine. Since I wasn't not working, there was no routine to force me to sleep or wake up at a specific time. I naturally like the night time for creative work. I like the non-interruption of thought from other people, meals or sounds. So if I have something serious to do, it is often done at night.

But I know how important sleep is for health. And I am focused on health. So it made sense that I allow my body to rest when it is dark outside and wake up when it is day. Apparently, there are many hormones that are activated on a circadian cycle.

Using my temporary job as my dad's chauffer to a conference in DC, I dedicated this one week to that experiment. All 6 days, I used an alarm to wake me up since I could go on sleeping for many hours if undisturbed. But this morning, I turned off my alarm. My dad's conference was over and I wanted to know when my body will feel rested on its own.

I woke up at 730am without an alarm. And my sleep score was an optimal 86%.
Now my next step is to determine what time is ideal for me to sleep and wake up while maintaining a score of 85% or more.
What is your wake up routine ? Do you have a little ritual that you do every morning after you wake up ? Writing, meditating, praying, self affirmation speech in front of the mirror or stuff like that ?

I love to wake up early and make use of this time when nobody is around just to reconnect with myself, but that's through different activities.
