Recently, I had the opportunity to suck at a new game. The person who exposed me to the game is younger, smarter, and better looking. These are not the barrels you want to be looking down with your hands in the air. You can't outrun these bullets when the sights are trained on your center mass.
But, what if reason and human connection could work? You see it in the movies. The cliché has the victim tied up; hands behind them; powerless. The smarter characters think through their predicament and turn a shitfest into a workout. In my case, I started a dialog in an effort to continue unravelling some deep-seeded abandonment issues that emerged like mushrooms after a rainy day .
I love how basic communication worked. It worked well, actually. But it wasn't just easy. I'm not claiming success because I knew how to navigate this maze. If anything, I'm happy to have survived this minor wave crash with not so much as a broken surfboard.
I used basic tools on an imaginary problem and it worked. I sprinkled fairy dust and followed it with a simple incantation for understanding. The student became ready and the teacher appeared. Woosh! Words did the trick.
I feel like I leveled up and acknowledge I didn't do it alone. The wave taught me the power of flow. Perspective reminded me there are two sides on the same coin. This is a simple love letter to my best friends. You know who you are.
