Yesterday, for the first time in almost 20 years, I took the bus to get home. I was looking at the cost of driving, gas, uber and parking to DC when I was going to the wework last week. It is NOT sustainable.
Given my current state, I had to figure out a way to avoid these ridiculous daily costs. For some reason, I hadn't considered public transport. I have a car and I don't have any problems driving it but parking at $20 a day wasn't for me.
One of the days, I woke up after a good nights sleep to the brilliant idea that I could take the bus. There is a little inconvenience but the cost is $3. I haven't looked into it yet but I am sure with a week pass or month pass, I can get it to be even lower. There is a little walking involved but the seats are great. It is not very crowded. And you can see the exact time the bus arrives online. For me the icing on the cake is the ability to listen to my book on my way home. It is better than listening to my audiobook while driving.
I took the bus back home yesterday and took it to the WeWork this morning.
This is sustainable.
