Mindset

I just listened to a podcast on Huberman Lab with Alia Crum. The topic was mindset and how changing the mindset impacts physical and mental performance but also makes the body respond differently to stress or different foods. The mindset is essentially rooted in each individual's belief system, but it can be changed in most cases. It is, to some extent, the placebo or nocebo effect of specific narratives entertained in an individual's mind on any topic. Heads up to purist vegans who kill themselves for cracking up on gorgonzola pasta. In one experiment, she measured the body's response to high glycemic index food (a milkshake) by swapping labels. The group who thought they were having a healthy shake had a different physiological response than the other group. To me, this is absolutely fascinating. Go check out the podcast. I think many of us self-sabotage because we entertain limiting self-beliefs. That is not the reality; you must support yourself with the best mindset possible to perform better. Look at high-performance athletes; their mindset is bulletproof. Are you conscious of your mindset?
