Thank You

as reply to space babies

The space ship slowly lumbered through the sky. Some one told Marianna that they were actually always falling, but she didn't believe that. That day they were supposed to get another group of people. Marianna had two more years. So it didn't matter much. How many does Keith have? She didn't know what she would do if Keith left before her, she felt that in some ways he would be winning if he did. She felt annoyed, and her face flushed. Then she felt nervous. How would going home feel? Then she'd actually be falling. She heard its like getting born again. Lots of people they say have a higher life satisfaction. Thats kind of why she did it in the first place. Purpose, she said in her interview, I don't feel like I have a purpose. Her face flushed again. She went to coffee machine. Sometimes she just browsed the machine to distract herself. Flatwhite, no. Black coffee, gross. Espresso, no way. Mocha double, thats nice. The machine whirred and ground the beans. There would be new beans with the new people she thought. How else do they get here. The machine gurgled and spat hot milk into the brown liquid. Then puffed out some cocoa powder. She looked at the cup, and at the machine. Thank you she said. The machine's display changed back to the full menu.

What did you say? Keith said.

Ope, ah nothing. Haha. must have been talking to myself.

Keith hit espresso, and the machine gurgled and hummed again.
