She Waved Gas City Spacecity

as reply to years later

Cal had a hard time getting there. I mean he had his van, but he hadn't travelled further than ten miles from his house in awhile, like 5 years. So he was worried, not about the travel, but more about what he'd find, and if he was honest with himself if he'd get there on time. Usually he'd wake up with the sun, eat oatmeal, and start work when he was ready. Now he's on someone else's time he had to be aware of it. He had to stay focused it he thought. Looking at a map at a rest station. It should be the next stop.
Gas City
, reminded him of
Spacecity
, or his town before that. It was barely a city. But there was more cars than he was used to.

He took the exit, and then he had to turn right, right, then left. Okay, here he is. The Gas City Diner home of the super egg scramble.

Cal took sometime getting out of the car. He folded the map and put it neatly next time himself. His lower back sore. It was only 6 hours, but it was harder than he thought. When he was younger he didn't have to stop. Now he stopped three or four times. He had to eat, then he had to pee, then he had to rest. Slowly but surely he kept saying.

When he pushed the door open a bell over his head jingled. He saw her sitting at a booth. She waved, and started to get up out of her seat.
