Penn would never do this at school, but sometimes when he got home he would record all the stories he heard. Then he made predictions, who would become friends with who and all that. Sometimes even more sinister ones, like who would break up. He just kept them, tallies and calculations of the parties.
The next day he went to class the same as the other. Again the chatter he'd hear. Almost to his locker, he just needed a book for the next class.
The lockers were labelled alphabetically. He barely talked to the guy to the left even though he had the most similar name. Sometimes he'd say hi to the other guy. Just a sort of head nod. Sometimes up sometimes down, sometimes the kid would see, and give him a polite smile. His last name was Patel. This time the kid came up around the same time. A bit quiet, he gave a nod.
"Hey you coming to the party this weeked?"
"What, uhh no, wasn't invited."
"No Zachs party? everyone is invited."
Penns hands got sweaty.
"Everyone?"
"Yeah thats what I've heard, gunna be a lot of people, but his house is big, also probably everyone won't come. Its just how it is."
Penn didn't respond, he didn't know how these things were, or went.
"You should come." Patel said. "Gotta get more of our North wing people there." with that he smiled.
"Penns hands felt clamy.
