A cup of cold water fell on his face. Covering the ground of his kitchen and forcing him out of sleep.
"We've got a job to do." It was Big Joe.
"Did I really do it?" James sat up sputtering.
"Do what?"
"Kill Chad?!"
"No you idiot, that was past James, you're different now, I told you that."
"Fuck, but past James, like me did that?"
"Blew his brains out. Had to burn that place down."
James was shaking again. "I can't I can't do it."
"You made a promise, now lets move."
Big Joe threw another cup of dirty water from the sink. "Let's go!"
James stood up, woozy from the night before.
"I got some food for you in the car, here." He tossed him a towel.
"Wash your face."
James stumbled into the light, the taxi was outside again idling. Big Joe shut his door and tossed him the key, pushing him gently down the stairs guiding him.
In the car a perfectly wrapped sandwich from McDonalds. A double cheese burger, extra cheese.
"Eat up." Big Joe said.
"We've got a long day ahead of us."
"We've got a job to do." It was Big Joe.
