They weren't the regular crowd, but the hostess was happy to see them. She called them beautiful, before the guys came in she asked if they had boyfriends, then told them to be careful. They just smiled. A few minutes after they sat down the boys came in, and after they ordered even more coffee the waitress winked at them.

The old man read his paper. He watched them talk, and that made him feel lighter, or something. Made him feel better. The paper talked about far away people living far away lives, getting hurt, starved, and killed. He turned the page, there were the business pages, things were always doing good everything was up, it was the time to buy. He turned the page. There were crosswords, and sudokus, things he never really did. Just liked to look through. Once and awhile he'd try the soduku.

The kids stayed too long, he thought, they kept ordering coffee. Probably costing the cafe money at this point. Oh okay they are getting a dessert. One of the guys always looking at one of the girls. Especially when she laughs. Maybe they're in love the man thought.

Maybe they weren't who cares he thought, and went back to reading.
