The officer walked up and tapped on the glass. The kid inside looked distressed and half asleep.
"License and registration please there."
"I uhh, here's my license but this is my moms car so I don't, I uh."
"Uhh don't worry there, she probably keeps it in the glove box, or something take your time."
He had all the time in the world. This was actually better than just driving around, got to leave his car and stretch his legs. He walked around the car. The kid had taken out the keys and put them on the dash. Strange.
He noted down the license plate, and the car make and model.
His mom's friend used to have one of these. He thought it was cool, could put a bike in the back probably even sleep comfortably.
He went to his car, and started the paper work. He wondered for a second how long he could get the kid to stay. Like could it make it to the end of his shift?
Two hours would be pushing it, even for him. He used to be another officer Fred about the longest mundane traffic stop. The LMTS they'd call it. Fred was a security guard now, didn't like the stress and the politics.
He finished the first form and went back to the car.
"You find it?"
"I think I think so."
"Thank you, will just be a second."
He bets he could wait here for like 30 min and the kid was just stay there shaking, Fred would have loved this one.
