There was only a few employees at The Seaside Rest. Two had all worked their longer than anyone could remember, the concierge and the cleaner, they were part the fabric of the sea side. Getting the paper in the morning making sure all the guests had mints on their pillows. And just everything else.
Most people that came there wanted to be left alone, you could tell, their shoulders were haunched and they just seemed stressed. Usually from the city.
Some others wanted to talk, they’d ask questions, like any places you recommend. I heard there was this and that.
Others come with their families others come to avoid their families.
There was as much going on in the rooms of seaside as were everywhere else in the world. That’s at least what Matt would tell people “You see the world there, why would I want to go any place else.” He had worked at the front desk for over a decade, hospitality coming naturally.
“You ever think about opening your own place?”
People would ask him. And he politely nod or laugh a little avoiding the question.
