After the watching Dave's job became monotonous. He was still waiting for
Big Joe
to give him the sign, and without the normal human interaction he was getting bored.
He thought everything was "the sign". There was a slight misspelling of his name on the Chinese takeout. There was a small flicker of light on his TV. There was a bible in his bed side table.
All of these things to Dave were a sign.
Originally he was told to stay in his room, and so far he did. But now every time he got the food he ventured out a little more.
"Towards the sun." he told the delivery guy.
"It helps me move more. You know."
So the delivery guy just started leaving it at the Motel's front desk. A nice walk just 6 minutes Dave clocked it at. And if he could be 6 minutes outside his room getting the food twice a day, he could be 6 minutes walking the other way.
6 minutes turned into 7 which turned into 8 which turned into 15.
15 minutes he spent walking all around the apartment complex. Thats as long as he'd go without returning home.
