"Have they found the body?" Paul said.
"We're uh, uh were working on it."
"No body, no crime. " Paul said. Sort of under his breath.
"We know Paul, just a lots been going on there. So we need to be... You know. Prepared."
The officer continued, "The guy who came in seemed normal. Like retired guy. You know. No reason for him to lie."
"Hmm. " Paul said.
For a long time Paul was a head detective. He was fifty seven now. Maybe when he was thirty, he had a way to see through bullshit, get to the root of the problem.
Now he didn't really care. Wanted more to put his hours in, get back down dockside for a drink or something.
"People always have reasons to lie." Paul Said.
"What?"
"People, there's always reasons to lie."
"Look we did all the checks, he's here on some badminton thing a tour or something. I don't know some shit retired people do, and he's with his partner."
"Romantic or badminton?" Paul said.
"I don't know Paul, just do a few drive bys, maybe you can ask em if you see em."
