Roadster story

When I was a young lad, my older brother owned an MG Midget. The MG Midget was a British roadster sports car, sold between 1960 and 1980. His model from the early 1970s was painted in British Racing Green. My brother was the first person I knew who owned a roadster, and the first person who took me for a drive in one. Though I was too young to drive, it didn't stop me from enjoying the wind in my hair driving experience for the first time. I promise myself that one day, I would own my very own roadster.

When the Mazda MX-5 was introduced in 1989, I instantly took a liking for it. It was the first time since the MG demise in the early 80s that an affordable roadster sports car was released. What's more, it was Japanese and was unlikely to drop oil on your driveway or break down on you. It was a shame I couldn't afford to buy one in 1989.

In 2003, a friend of mine purchased an MG with a Rover V8 engine. Not only did this car sound great, but it also went like a rocket. In fact, it was a scary car to drive, because you couldn't take off at the lights without lighting up the rear wheels. It was a real beast of a roadster.

Come 2007, and I finally got my first roadster, a white 1991 Mazda MX-5. My love affair with the roadster had begun.

Liking this series. Looking forward to more stories about you and the love affair!

Ok, you did write about it. Funny how childhood experiences often form such life-lasting impressions.
